Planning During A Pandemic

Are you wedding planning during the pandemic restrictions? We understand the frustration and sadness that postponing your wedding may cause and we want to help you find a way around it. The most important thing about getting married is the ceremony and once you are joined in matrimony, you’ll be surprised how little everything else matters. Here are our tips for planning what will become the day of your dreams, even if it wasn’t the day you originally hoped for.

Guests

With restrictions in place, you need to be very selective about your guest list. You should plan for all eventualities which include 6, 25, and 50 people weddings. Remember that the couple and the venue staff are not included in the numbers allowed. Make a list of everyone you cannot get married without and plan around that. Remember that hotel accommodation can be provided for couples and guests and guests are allowed to breach travel restrictions to attend weddings.

Your original guest list might be a lot smaller than planned but you can find a way to involve those who cannot attend. You can arrange drive-by visits, you could arrange to live stream your wedding ceremony so no one misses out or ask your guests to deliver a video message for your virtual guestbook.

Shop Local

It’s always a good idea to support local businesses, hotels, companies and suppliers but with unpredictable and changeable travel restrictions in place, it is even more important to shop local. The last thing you want is for the florist or baker unable to deliver due to restrictions. Ask friends and family or your wedding planner for recommendations for trusted local suppliers and support small businesses where possible.

During Lockdown

You can only do so much during an active lockdown. It might not be possible to visit your venue but make sure to keep in touch with your suppliers and wedding planner and keep them informed of any changes. You can still book suppliers, virtual hen & stag parties and plan your wedding with an open and flexible mind. Familiarise yourself with the legalities of weddings and decide on colour schemes, décor and flower arrangements. Be creative and start some homemade crafts like a wedding scrapbook or handmade favours you can work on. Keep yourself busy and excited and don’t let lockdown dampen your wedding spirit!

Wicklow Wedding Venue

The main thing to remember when booking your wedding venue during a pandemic is flexibility. You’ll want a room large enough to hold your entire wedding party with an option for a smaller space if needed. At Tulfarris Hotel & Golf Resort we offer packages for both large and small weddings with options for intimate, luxurious weddings. The Drawing Room in our 18th Century Manor House comfortably seats 25 people, or our new ballroom has banqueting style seating for 250 guests, if restrictions allow. There is no need to travel between the ceremony and the celebrations; Exchange your vows in our beautiful ceremony room complete with a balcony overlooking the Wicklow Mountains. Our talented wedding planners and events team are experienced in all types of wedding and we are happy to work with you to plan the wedding of your dreams, despite the restrictions.

A two-part wedding

If you truly can’t bear the idea of a wedding celebration without all of your nearest and dearest in attendance, plan a two-part wedding. Tulfarris Hotel can offer you a venue and beautiful surrounds for an intimate ceremony and celebration, with plans for a larger scale celebration on hold until restrictions lift and all of your loved ones can celebrate together. Our planners have been working with couples since March 2020 to reschedule and reimagine weddings and have gotten some truly excellent feedback from couples whose pandemic weddings went ahead.
