Our Story

A little bit about us both:

I am from Killeshin, Co. Laois and Enda is from Carlow town.
We were introduced by close friends almost 12 years ago and have been together for over 11 years.

Our proposal:

Our first trip away together was to Cork in 2009. We visited the Blarney Castle and we carved our initials in a tree nearby. We decided to re-visit the Castle in 2016 to try and find the same tree. After some time of looking, we could not find the exact place so decided to carve our initials into a new tree. While I was taking a picture of where the tree was so we could find it again, when I turned around Enda was down on one knee asking me to marry him and I of course said yes!!

Our Big Day

Our ceremony was in the Holy Cross Church, Killeshin on 18/12/2020.
We had our photographs taken at Tulfarris, mainly in the Manor House.

For our meal we chose: Starter - Creamy chicken, wild mushroom and tarragon bouchée
Soup - cream of root vegetable
Sorbet - raspberry & elderflower
Main - Option between Grilled Darne of Irish Sea hake & slow roasted breast of Turkey and ham
Dessert - Assiette of mini desserts

Our first dance was Everything by Michael Buble.

Our most memorable moment was how relaxed and enjoyable our day was even with small numbers due to COVID restrictions

Post Wedding celebrations:

We could not have Day 2 celebrations due to COVID restrictions, but celebrated with our families instead.

We went to the Galgorm spa and golf resort for our mini-moon and hope to have our honeymoon some time in 2021 once travel is allowed again.

Why did we choose Tulfarris?

Tulfarris had been recommended to us by a friend and we drove to view it one day. We knew immediately that it was the venue for us as the Hotel, Manor House and grounds are stunning. We ate in the hotel bar that day and the food was delicious and the staff were extremely friendly. We then booked an appointment with Honora, who went above and beyond for us from day one. Our wedding was originally due to take place on 24/07/2020, however, we had to postpone it to 18/12/2020 due to COVID.

Honora made this time stress free for us by keeping in regular contact and helping us adapt to the restrictions in place. Although we were only allowed to have 25 guests, we had the best day all thanks to Honora, the hotel staff and manager on duty on the day who were all so friendly and helpful. Our guests had a great day also and they gave great feedback about the venue and food. The Manor House & Bar were beautifully decorated for Christmas which added to the relaxed atmosphere. We would highly recommend Tulfarris for any event.
