Our Story

A little bit about you both:

Declan is from Cabinteely, Dublin and Laura is from Gorey, Wexford. We met while in college in UCD studying international commerce and have been together for a little over 8 years

Tell us a bit about the proposal:

We got engaged on 23rd of September 2018. We were on a weekend away in Kerry and Declan got down on one knee at the top of Bray Head on Valentia Island. It was early in the morning so there was nobody else up there. There were great views out to the Skellig Islands and back towards the Iveragh peninsula. It was perfect!

What suppliers did you work with?:

We had lots of wonderful suppliers that helped make for a fantastic day;

Photographer – Keith Gordon Photography. Keith did a fantastic job making us feel at ease and capturing all the special moments of our big day. We can highly recommend Keith as a wedding photographer.

Cake – Baker Baker, Gorey, Co. Wexford made us a beautiful semi naked cake with a tier of raspberry and vanilla and a tier of lemon. It was delicious!

Flowers – Four Season Florist, Gorey, Co. Wexford

Rings – Breretons, Grafton street

Band – Marvin & The Grooves – Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 restrictions, live music was not permitted at the time of our wedding. That said, we know Marvin & The Grooves would have been a fantastic wedding band and highly recommend checking them out if you need a top class band!

Wedding Car – We rented a Brenchley car from All Events Limos for the wedding day and loved it!

The beauty parade:

Wedding Dress – B Couture, Arklow, Co Wicklow – the owner Bernie is just fantastic and so helpful on that search for the special dress!

Bridesmaids Dresses – Dreamy Curves, Bray, Co Wicklow – We went for dresses in a sage colour (seagrass).

Hair – Baker Street Gorey, Co Wexford –

Makeup – The Powder Room – Gorey Co Wexford

Suits – Jack Dunne, Gorey, Co Wexford

The Big Day:

The ceremony was held in Cranford Church, Gorey, Co Wexford, down the road from Laura’s family home. We then jumped into our Wedding car and drove straight to the reception at Tulfarris. We were fortunate with the weather and were able to get all our photos outside on-site in Tulfarris with some beautiful shots overlooking the Blessington Lakes. The Manor House was also the perfect location for our drinks reception and our guests loved it.

The food in Tulfarris was amazing from start to finish. We were so happy with all of our menu choices and our guests were raving about the dinner. The service from the staff was also second to none throughout the day.

We were delighted to be able to have our first dance on the day to ‘This Guys in Love with You’ and it was one of our highlights.

For Laura the most memorable moment of the day was Declan’s speech. Despite him only finishing it the morning of the wedding it was full of humour and emotion and just beautiful!

Declan’s most memorable part of the day was practicing the first dance in the bridal suite while all the guests took their seats for dinner!

Post Wedding celebrations:

We rented the Manor House for two nights and had our second day in Tulfarris with a BBQ organised for our guests through the hotel. We were delighted we had made this choice as the Manor House is beautiful and we were delighted to spend a second night there and also it was great to have the area for ourselves and our guests on the second day with our own bar area.

Why did you choose Tulfarris?:

The first thing that drew us to Tulfarris was the amazing setting overlooking the Blessington Lakes. We were also drawn by the fact that the separate Manor House and function room gave us privacy for the wedding celebrations while the hotel could accommodate all of our guests on-site.

Tulfarris really delivered beyond our expectations from the venue itself to the staff and service to the food. From the outset and in the run up to the wedding day Honora was always available for a call or to answer our queries. On the wedding day itself Derek and his team took care of all of our needs and was very attentive to ensure the day was perfect! The meal was absolutely amazing and our guests are still raving about it, especially the beef!

The level of service and professionalism continued on day 2 and we couldn’t fault the treatment we received from the Tulfarris team over the whole weekend. We would highly recommend Tulfarris to any couple looking for a beautiful setting for their wedding with amazing accommodation for the bridal party in the Manor House, first class service from the team and the most delicious food!
