Laura & Damien

Our Story

A little bit about us both:

We're both from Galway but we've been living in Dublin almost about 8 years now. We met at our local pub (where else!) in Galway over 13 years ago!

Our proposal:

Damien proposed to me at Coosan Point on the edge of Lough Ree in Athlone in March 2020. We were just back from a trip to Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong but no place like a wet March day in Ireland I guess!

Our suppliers:

  • Flowers were supplied by Absolutely Fabulous Flowers in Celbridge

  • The rings were from Patrick Glynn Jewellers

  • The wedding band was The Blue Romantics

  • The church and reception singer was Natalie Turner

  • Stationary was done by family and we had no cake!

Our beauty parade:

The guys suits were from Anthony Ryan's in Galway

The wedding dress was from Brummell & Co. in Athlone

The bridesmaids dresses were from Monsoon

Make-up & hair was by EF Creative Studios

Our Big Day

The ceremony was held in St. Mochta's Church in Castleknock

Photographs were taken in Tulfarris. We discussed with the photographer about stopping somewhere along the route to Tulfarris for photos but we all agreed that Tulfarris had more than enough to offer!

Starters were smoked salmon or Chorizo & baby potato salad, soup was tomato & roasted red pepper, mains was Seabass or slow cooked fillet of beef and desert was a mini assortment

Our first dance was Rihanna We Found Love

Our most memorable moment was Arnold taking us for pictures with the golf buggy and laughing all the way (we even have a good selfie with him!)

Post Wedding celebrations:

We didn't have our second day celebrations in Tulfarris but we had a small number of family and friends join us back in Dublin for some drinks

We did a mini-moon for four days in Lough Eske Castle in Donegal. Honeymoon to follow at some point.

Why did you choose Tulfarris?

We chose Tulfarris because of the beautiful setting and having had an initial meeting with Honora we knew it was where we wanted to celebrate our marriage. The fact that the wedding venue is separate from the hotel was a major plus as it gave greater privacy that we really enjoyed. The manor house is a stunning building to arrive into and really sets the tone for what is to follow. Honora and her team were a dream to work with to arrange everything and the team on the night led by Derek and Arnold were not only extremely professional and flexible but brilliant fun as well. The food certainly didn't disappoint and the service was excellent. All the guests who stayed in the hotel were very complimentary of the accommodation and those who stayed in the Manor house, including ourselves were extremely impressed!
