Our Story
A little bit about us both:
Derek is from lucan and I'm from leixlip and we bought a house in celbridge 4 years ago! And live with our two rescue dogs Shadow and Lexi. We met through a mutual friend, and after many a night out Derek asked me on our first date to the cinema. We are together since I was 18 and he was 21 so 13years 🙈 and expecting our first baby any day now, as I am 38 weeks pregnant!
Our proposal:
Back in June 2015, I bought a little romantic getaway for Derek for his birthday to Kilronan Castle. The whole journey down Derek was sweating and quiet, I was getting a bit angry because I was bringing him away for his birthday and he was just acting so weird. When we arrived he suggested we go on a trip to Glencar waterfall in Sligo, which I was not up for as I had just driven two hours! But he pulled the "it's my birthday" card and I got changed into my old track suit and off we went. We got hot chocolate and cakes and made our way up to the waterfall. There was a family in front of us on holiday so I offered to take there picture at the waterfall, they also returned the favour and offered to take our picture. After two pictures I was like thanks and then Derek asked them could they take one more picture and with that he got down on one knee( in a puddle) and asked me to marry him. Fair play to the family as they kept taking pictures and we have the whole thing on camera! Derek said he totally winged it and got lucky with the family taking pictures of it all...typical man! he knew I wouldn't expect it because it was his birthday trip! He was 100% right, and i wish i never changed into my old track suit 😂 but looking back it just made the whole thing more special.

Our Big Day:
So the church was in leixlip with Fr. John. Photographs were mainly taken at Tulfarris because of rain on the day, we dont have too many photos too far away from shelter. First dance, was true colours, the Justin Timberlake ( he was the first concert myself and Derek went too) version from the movie trolls. We had like an ocean theme, as Derek's nickname is fish, this had escalated from the hens/stags, so we got all the bridal party a inflatable Nemo and the craic we had with them while taken the bridal pictures was gas. I also had a little surprise at the back of the cake for Derek of a little batman (who he loves) peeping out, that he didn't know about so that was good fun too.
Post Wedding celebrations:
Yes we had a BBQ and weather was much better thank god! And a bit of a family sing song. Everyone had partied a little too hard the night before so it wasn’t too late of a night! Our honeymoon was a week in Miami and then a royal Caribbean cruise around the Bahamas! Was amazing but we actually got stranded on the cruise ship because a hurricane hit Miami really badly so we had to stay out at sea and got 3 extra nights on our cruise for free. Its definitely a trip we will never forget.
Why did we choose Tulfarris?
My dad has his school reunion at your hotel and when we were looking at venues he suggested it! It was perfect... nice balance between old and new with the manor house. It was only 40 mins away. We had the wedding room to ourselves so no random hotel guests venturing into the wedding. Staff were lovely. The grounds were beside the lake which went with our ocean theme. Loved the look of the courtyard area too and knew it would work no matter the weather on the day!
